Our responsibility to society would seem to some, just as important as our individual rights. Some would argue novelties of freedom, liberty and security  are indispensable virtues within a civilized society. I did actually, years ago, in high school, at our regional homage to the Lincoln-Douglas debates. My classmates and I, tossed around novelty's such as civic justice and summum bonum, all being acquiesced since birth. These lofty notions took center stage as we debate opposing schools for a highly coveted crown. Personally, I found myself willing to give more than I can in countless instances but it was not until adulthood that I learned a harsh reality that, 

"Charity starts at home."

Popular culture in it's present tense incorporates real time consequences and new age adages our founding fathers could never have imagined. Documentaries such as "Loo And Behold: Reveries of the connected world" go a long way to educate viewers on the dichotomy of our present digital/information age. One could only ponder  the possiblities because opinions could hardly be formulated without observation. Much of the speculation was nothing more than wishful thinking. On the other hand, and just as true, was many fearing what  couldn't begin to beunderstand. But alas, the future waits for no one.

I was the last of the analog era. I remember the first gaming systems, and the  great anticipation that came with logging on to the world wide web.  Needless to say, I didn't know what I didn't' know at the time. I was a child of the matrix.

By the time I graduated high school in 1996, the first social media platform was officially launched. The synchronicity is mind boggling in retrospect, for my class was burdened by Y2K and what the year 2000 would hold for the future. My pursuit of higher leaning played second fiddle to my social networking, and before I knew it, I had dropped out and entered the corporate workforce. The ambiguity of this chapter is relevant because instead of earning a degree I was hired by a collection firm and was groomed into a Senior Account Executive. They opened my eyes to money. The owners where the wealthiest people I have ever known. 

I incorporated NoAlias in 2002 utilizing Black Planet and Migente until ditching both for Myspace as a tool for not just marketing and promotions, but advertising. My proficiency extended my reach exponentially as I propelled myself into social circles that were out of my reach otherwise. Popular culture encapsulated all of these elements into a nondescript loosely knit fabric. It was in this tapestry that a child from the poorest district in the nation could interact with the rich and famous on amen equal billing. Preconcieved notions such as prestige became blurred for a brief instant. Theirin lies the epiphany, for it was indeed a simply life for the likes of Paris Hilton, yet quite complex for me. Perception being what it is, I failed to see grace in affluence. It seemed in my opinion, her poise hid a deeply seeded ignorance. It was at this moment I began to rethink and reshape what it to be an American Socialite. #lifelibertyhappiness
